“Do Tell Brother” was originally a tiny sketch scribbled during this past summer. The sketch was completely unconsciously done, but the idea behind it is connected to my emotional journey this year. I find it difficult to be vulnerable with close ones especially because I feel a constant pressure to be happy and productive.

“Where I'm From” is like a love letter to my home, Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. It was partially inspired by a song with the same name by the Digable Planets. I want people reading to feel the love and warmth that I feel when I think about abuelas sitting on stoops, little kids playing in the pump, and black girls in big knocker earrings.
